One of Sydney's iconic dining establishments Wildfire, which has served over 1.1 million customers and seen the likes of Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Dan Aykroyd, Susan Sarandon, Baz Luhrmann and Chris Hemsworth dine there (the list goes on), is closing down next month after 12 successful years of trading.
Under the creative leadership of Tonci Farac, Wildfire was the first restaurant to bring the Sea Bar concept and multi concept wood fire grilling to Sydney diners.
Situated at the Overseas Passenger Terminal (OPT) at Circular Quay, Wildfire is extinguishing the flame on its state of the art rotisserie and grills on Saturday 8th March.
"There was hope that Wildfire might be relocated to another area of the OPT, but this has not been the case," states Founding Director Tonci Farac. "We cannot replicate Wildfire. Where else in Sydney would you get a room with a 7.5 metre ceiling that seats 320 patrons on the harbour edge with a breathtaking views of the Opera House?"
And business is great.
"We are still trading like we have just opened," comments Julian Izzillo, the Operations Director. "Last Saturday we did 400 covers and had a queue out the front."
"Other than a massive revenue loss, we are concerned about our 100+ dedicated employees, many of whom have been at Wildfire for many years. We will also miss not serving our wonderful patrons who have been very loyal to Wildfire for the last 12 years and made us the success we are today," mourns a saddened Farac.
On a positive note to celebrate the success of Wildfire, the 3 Directors are hosting a farewell event on Sunday 9th March with all funds going to Chris O'Brien's Lifehouse, Wildfire's preferred charity.
